Tour of the Masi di Grumes - Description

A ring walk that, starting from the Grumes village (Altavalle), passes throught the ancient farm of german origins between lawn,  cultivations and wide panoramic views.
Walk in the tranquility in the wood to rediscover the ancient Masi of Grumes, a mountain corner which has managed to preserve the atmosphere of its origins, dating back to the Middle Ages. Names and toponyms of places lead back to formation of Masi at the german  immigrations which involved Trentino between XI and XVI century, encouraged by the Tyrolean Lords of Koenigsberg and from the Prince Bishop of Trento to increase the tithes and guard an important link between Tyrol and the Adige Valley. For about four century from their arrival, the German peasant of the Masi di Grumes area, they kept their own language and customs, profoundly influencing the local culture. The path connects in a ring the Greggion, Ferrai, Pojeri, Todescat, Giovanni, Gairadi, Noldi, Orion and Pinteri Masi (farm) placed in an amphitheater of woods and meadows.

    Started from the square of Grumes village, go up next to the Church until reached the S.S.612 near Green Grill. Passes throught the road and started to go up to the Masi di Grumes, pass near the historic chestnut grove and so reach the high farms to then go down, after Maso Giovanni, to the low farms and return to the started point.

Tips for the tour

Author:  A stage to do on the way out or on the way back is the one at Green Grill - Info and flavors, the Casa della Rete di Riserve, wich it's along the SS 612. Here you can taste or buy local products, receive informations about the territory, admire the valley from the spectacular panoramic terrace. Another possible stage in the half of the tour is that near the Casel dei masi, the ancient shift dairy today restaurant and landlords.

Per chi viene da Trento, seguire la SS.612 in direzione nord fino a Grumes. Il parcheggio si trova in prossimità del Centro Polifunzionale “Le Fontanelle”. Per chi viene dalla Val di Fiemme seguire la SS 612 in direzione sud fino a Grumes. Il parcheggio si trova in prossimità del Centro Polifunzionale “Le Fontanelle”.
