A marvelous loop of intermediate difficulty through Val Brenta and Vallesinella, two valleys running through the heart of the Brenta Dolomites and past the stunning Cascate di Mezzo (middle falls).
The itinerary runs along snow trails and forestry roads and through forests of European silver fir, interspersed with clearings and alpine farmhouses, alongside crystal-clear streams to a stunning clearing at Malga Brenta Bassa. Here, there is a breathtaking view of the Dolomites and the west face of Crozzon di Brenta overlooking the valley. The highest point of the outing is at the Vallesinella Cascata di Mezzo, which freezes in winter and makes for some truly thrilling ice climbing.

    Loc. Prà de la Casa

    From Prà de la Casa area continue to Malga Brenta Bassa along the forest road (as described in the itinerary n. 12) for about 30 min. From Malga Brenta Bassa , 1.256m, follow the forest road that develops among woods of firs and conifers till you reach the intersection that brings to the path for the Vallesinella di Mezzo waterfalls (60 min). After crossing the characteristic wooden bridge you can admire the amazing view on the frozen waterfalls. Once passed the refuge Cascate di Mezzo, 1.410m, take the road that descends on the right side of Sarca river till Malga Fratte (30 min). From here, short and descending road to return at Prà de la Casa (15 min).

From Sant’Antonio di Mavignola, to the south of Madonna di Campiglio, follow the signs for “Val Brenta”. Take the downhill road across the bridge over the Sarca river to Prà della Casa. Park your car here and continue on foot.
Parking is available free of charge in Prà de la Casa.
