An enjoyable winter stroll for the whole family that can be done on foot or with snowshoes. The itinerary runs alongside the Campo Carlo Magno cross-country trails to Malga Mondifrà.
An easy outing for the whole family through the Campo Carlo Magno ski area for alpine and cross-country skiing.
This itinerary, of insignificant elevation gain, is out in the open and, for the most part, beyond the woods, so it is exposed to sunlight throughout the day.
Malga Mondifrà is in a tranquil setting overlooking the cross-country trails and is a great sport for a relaxing break as you enjoy a hot beverage or local alpine delicacies.

    Madonna di Campiglio Fortini area

    From Madonna di Campiglio reach Campo Carlo Magno till Fortini area, where you can park. From the town center go north and, on the sidewalk, walk towards Campo Carlo Magno. At the start of the Grostè cableway, in Fortini area, cross the parking lot and reach the characteristic field of Campo Carlo Magno. Go over it walking on a flat surface, close to the natural little lake and the ruins of Malga del Campo on the left side. Afterwards, passed the ski runs cross (paying attention to skiers), take the forest road (25 min) on the left side and follow it with no important difference in height till Malga Mondifrà, 1.630m (25 min). Follow the itinerary vice versa

Appropriate winter clothing, hiking boots, walking poles and instep crampons or snowshoes, water bottle or thermos flask.

Tips for the tour

If you would like to give cross-country skiing a try, you may rent equipment and take lessons at the nearby Campo Carlo Magno cross-country skiing center. Families with young children will want to bring a sled for the snowy hills near Campo Carlo Magno Pass.

Reach loc. Fortini near the Grostè cableway, 1 km northwards Madonna di Campiglio along the main road SS239. To reach the cableway coming from Pinzolo, take the tunnel at the beginning of Madonna di Campiglio - avoiding the centre of the village - and go on towards Campo Carlo Magno for about 1 k after the tunnel exit. Coming from Dimaro, instead, pass Campo Carlo Magno and, after about 800 meters, arrive at the Grostè cableway.
