Trekking at Cima Pontara - Lemperperg: mountain between Pinè Plateau and Mòcheni Valley - Description

This peak is an interesting destination for the lovers of tranquility
Minor mountain compared to the near Rujoch but with great expectations. Less frequented, but beautiful and particular! A ring tour to explore it on all its sides. One last detail: a must stop at Stramaiolo hut to taste some tipycal Trentino dishes.

Directions

  • Start

    Redebus Pass

From Redebus pass walk on the paved road for 100m towards Val dei Mocheni; arriving at a big wood sign with written "Benvenuti in Val dei Mocheni" you can note two roads that started from the principal; leaving out the right road that conduce at Cambroncoi hut, take the left with "Fernu" indications. Walking on into the wood on the paved road it is immediately perceived a quiet atmosphere. After about 1Km and two bends, continue with "Stialt" and "Naibis" indication, avoiding the road that goes left.
After other 600m you can see on the left an uphill path; take that path and leave the comfortable road (trail sign n°462 - "Passo Polpen" direction). The path is very steep but will soon soften and after about an hour you will reach Polpen Pass, characterized by meadows and vegetation typical of high mountain.
After you have enjoyed the panorama on the beautiful mountains of Val dei Mocheni, continue for the last meters that separete from the peaks. At the pass walk on  the path tracks in south-west direction, leaving behind the great dorsal of Rujoch mountain and in short you will reach Pontara-Lemperperg top.
The panorama from here is breathtaking and it's worth the time for some good photos; after a snack and something to drink the tour goes on. Go back to Polpen pass continuing then in direction "malga Stramaiolo Alta" and on a nice path between rhododendrons, you go down in altitude until the hut. From the road you can see in the distance the Stramaiolo hut, excellent base for replenishing energy. Continuing on the paved road, after about 1Km, take the left road with "malga Pontara 443/B" indications, untill you reach the homonymous hut. Walk always on the same path (443/B) and you quickly arrive at Malga Regnana and then at Redebus pass, started point of this interesting ring tour.
