Via Vecchia Trail - Description

An easy itinerary along Via Vecchia, the road once used to get from Madonna di Campiglio to Pinzolo by way of Sant'Antonio di Mavignola.

Directions

  • Start

    Madonna di Campiglio

From the Madonna di Campiglio Tourist office, head down to Piazza Righi, then cross the square to the right and follow along Viale Dolomiti di Brenta for about 500m. Just after Ristorante Antico Focolare, turn left onto Via Monte Spinale.
At the bottom of the hill, turn right and then immediately left onto Via Castelletto Inferiore and follow along this road for about 1.6 km until Hotel Hermitage. Here, continue uphill for 250m until the dirt road. Follow this road downhill. Continue on for 1.1 km until the intersection near the Fontanella cliff and keep to the right. Continue on for another 700m; turn right at the first intersection and left at the second.
Continue along the dirt road past two tight switchbacks. PAY EXTRA ATTENTION TO THE ROAD SURFACE here and then continue on paved road until the intersection. Keep to the right and follow this flat road for 1.7 km until the intersection with state highway 239.
Turn left and continue downhill for 600m on the main road until the center of Sant’Antonio di Mavignola. Turn left onto a steep road to the village’s square. Now continue to the left and out of town along Via Folgorida. This paved, winding road will take you downhill for 2.8 km to the village of Ponte Canale.
Continue along the paved road, which widens here, for 1.4 km until the bike path that will take you to Pineta in Pinzolo.
