Walk - Bersaglieri trail - Description

This loop trail is fascinating and scenic, characterized by a series of steps and terraces leading us to the Ciolino hill and to the back side of the Telvana Castle
During the Third War of Independence (and the Risorgimento period), in the summer of 1866, the Kingdom of Italy attacked the Austrian Empire in Trentino trying to carry out a pincer movement. Garibaldi was slowly making his way through the Giudicarie valley, while from the Bassano area a column of 15,000 Infantry and Bersaglieri guided by General Medici was marching through Valsugana towards Trento. On the afternoon of July 23, the Italians arrived in Borgo Valsugana.

Directions

  • Start

    corso Ausgum

This loop trail is fascinating and panoramic but at the same time not particularly tiring, given the snall difference in altitude from the valley to the highest point. From Corso Ausugum– in its final part after the Palazzo della Comunità di Valle - take the stairs (and cross the small gate) that uphill lead uphill leading to the back of the castle. Here you can admire the imposing tower of the mastium and the ruins of the walls. Now keep walking around the castle and head towards the valley and the town again along a mule track. You will then get to the Poor Clares' Monastery and finally back to Corso Ausugum.
