Start
Ronco Cainari
The walk to Capitel della Fratta is an excursion of medium difficulty that takes about two or three hours including the return. The trail winds along a path that, through a steep ridge, connects the hamlet of Ronco Cainari to Piancavalli.
By following the trail, fully signposted, you can admire the ancient group of houses that makes up the hamlet of Cainari and savour its rural life that still reigns supreme. A little further on you can admire an ancient water mill that is still active today for demonstration purposes. The trail continues entering a wood, characterized by an important biodiversity and a great variety of flowers inserted in a chromatic frame that varies considerably according to the seasons, thanks to the presence of different trees including firs, larches, beeches, and hazelnut.
Once you reach Capitello, you can enjoy an unparalleled panorama over the Vanoi Valley, with the mountains in the background that divide it from Primiero as well as the Dolomites with the Pale di San Martino and Vette Feltrine. -

We recommend bringing water in your backpack, because in the second part of the trail it is not available, also a camera is a must.
Tips for the tour
The Vanoi Valley is particularly wild and natural; in this area to the west the depopulation and the little anthropization has left a place full of history, intact in its naturalness. The walk winds along an ancient path used for cattle raising, where there are rest points and some points of interest set up with historical publications for adults and local legends for kids. Each step is marked by a new discovery.
