About the Ultental
Mountains and reservoirs where the eye can see and historical mineral springs: The Ultental is one of the oldest and most water-rich valleys in South Tyrol and inspires countless visitors with its beautiful untouched nature. Join us on a journey into the past and discover the traditions of the rustic valley.
Steep mountain slopes and fresh mountain air on a wonderfully beautiful terrain. Once you enter the Ultental, it will inspire you with its curious impressions from the first moment, because both the Häusl am Stein and the mountain farms seem to be literally nailed to the vertical slopes here. A peculiarity that traces back to past flooding of Falschauer and still gives an impressive picture today. Traditionally, the area's mountain farmers relied on the art of self-sufficiency with those products that the mountain and agriculture have to offer.
Deeper into the valley, near St. Nicholas, is the valley floor.
Here is also the Ultner Valley Museum, which gives you an insight into the traditional rural arts and crafts and cultural heritage such as antique tools, crafts and writings. In the area around St. Gertraud, you can see the beautiful Ultner Urlärchen that tower with their strong trunks in the air. These three trees are among the oldest conifers in Europe and are still seen today as a symbol of nature's strong and indomitable will to survive.

If you want to go a bit further to discover nature beyond the borders of the valley, you can head to the Deutschnonsberg: a secluded area that is separated from Ultental Mountains by the Ultner Mountains far away from everyday life and reaches as far as the neighboring region of Trentino ,
