You enter the third floor through a modern dependance, where product designer Harry Thaler and curator Simone Mair live with their two children. Harry took great pleasure in transforming a 50m² attic into a warm, minimalistic dream loft in sustainable materials.
A glass façade lights the loft, whose 20m² west-facing terrace creates an open-air living room, where in summer, you can enjoy the sun until late evening, drinking in the view of Texelgruppe Nature Park’s lofty peaks. The flat feels like a cocoon due to the floor and wall finishing that imparts a sense of comfort. The living space also features Harry’s one-of-a kind designs: The round dining table and the floor lamp were specially printed from concrete using 3D technology for this flat. So was the wash basin, which stands like a piece of sculpture in the middle of the bathroom. The kitchen, featuring red autumn colours and eco-friendly materials, is equipped with upmarket, minimalist utensils. An eye-catching daybed covered in wool invites you to sit comfortably and read. Choose from the selection of books in different languages found on the sisal-covered step that serves as a shelf.
Aficionados of design and architecture take note: In 2020, Harry designed his five-story Harry Thaler studio in an abandoned silo. Guests are very welcome to drop in for coffee with Harry at the studio, just five minutes by car from the flat.
