Take a walk through the hallways of Castelbello Castle and imagine how people must have lived in the 13th century. Or visit Rotund Castle and find out how people guarded important passages like the Münstertal around 900 AD. Each building has its own story to tell and discover.

Monuments – in memory of the past

The monuments are as varied in size, origin, and history as South Tyrol itself. In Merano, for example, you will find the Sissi Monument to Empress Elisabeth, who loved to spend her time South Tyrol. In Bolzano, on the other hand, there is a monument to the famous poet Walther von der Vogelweide. Even from the time of the dictator Mussolini, surreal testimonies to his demonstrations of power can still be found, such as the Victory Monument. For the most part, they all date from a time long past and are part of South Tyrol's history.
