Rohrerhaus
The first historical mention of the Rohrerhof dates back to around 1280 and was earlier regarded as one of the valley’s largest farm estates. Although it was once located at the edge of the village, it is now in the middle of the settlement. The community of Sarntal (Sarentino) acquired the farmhouse several years ago. It was expertly and very carefully restored within the framework of the EU support program Leader+ and turned over to the Rohrerhof Society in 2007 to be managed. The entire estate complex can be visited with a tour. The spacious rooms are a testament to the estate’s importance. Contemporary witnesses even report that at times, more than twenty maids and servants served at the estate. The traditional wood-paneled Tyrolean Stube, the kitchen, the master bedroom, and a second Stube were plainly and simply furnished according to historical models. The farmhouse also has an outbuilding which housed the oven and today is also home to the mill. The entire outside area and the kitchen garden were exemplarily fenced off with different forms of traditional fences. The is Rohrerhaus not a purely static museum institution, but rather views itself as a place of encounters. For that reason, over the years there have been numerous events and active cultural activity. Outside of opening hours, the premises of the Rohrehof can also be rented for events, such as seminars or exhibitions. Depending upon requirements, the Stube, kitchen, a tasty room, a seminar room, two exhibition rooms, and various cellars are available.
