About Facincani, opticians
He came with his family from Veneto to South Tyrol in the 1930s as
a small child. At first, they lived in San Candido, where the railwayman's
father was punished because he was anti-fascist. So they soon
moved to Bolzano on Via Torino, where Renzo Facincani worked and
lived for a lifetime right next to the district optician shop he opened
in 1960. He had learned the trade at another well-known optician's
who would have liked to hand over his shop to him. However,
Renzo wanted to open his own business and provide a service to
his neighbours. And that's exactly what he did, stopping just shortly
before his death in 2020. He worked six days a week, and became
a household name as an expert optician as well as repairing and
adapting lenses. The store has been run since the year 2000 by
son Roberto Facincani, representing the second generation of the
family-run business.
