Pastures and dairies have long characterized the Alpine landscape in the Upper Venosta Valley with utter and cheeses having been produced at the pastures since the High Middle Ages. Even today, natural milk products such as butter, yoghurt and special cheeses are still made in the Venosta Valley Alpine pastures.

There are never more than a dozen cows in the barns of the mountain farms in the Upper Venosta Valley, which are fed GM-free animal feed. Each and every year, international experts remain impressed with the regional cheeses, which are produced in two variations: soft and hard cheeses. Each cheese is marked by the pasture of origin.

Planeiler Alm
The alpine hut Planeil (Furgles Alm) is located at 2,203 meters above sea level and thereby has an excellent panoramic view. Leave behind the stressful everyday life and enjoy the almost untouched nature of the Planeil valley. You are welcome to relax on our sun terrace while tasting our food made from regional products. We place big value on fresh ingredients from the region and this is why we try to produce as much as possible ourselves. From mid-June our cows are back on the pasture and that is when we start the daily production of cheese, butter, yogurt, etc. in our show dairy. The Steck family is looking forward to your visit.
Matscher Alm Alpine Hut
The Matscher Alm is located at 2,050 m. From the Glieshof it goes to the right side of the valley comfortably on the path n. 2 till the Matscher Alm.
Höfer Alm Alpine Hut

Schliniger Alpine Hut
The "Schliniger Alm" is only 2 km from the village Schlinig away. It is there not only serves hospitable, but also enjoys one of the best mountain cheese of the Upper Vinschgau Valley
Brugger Alm
It offers fresh homemade delicacies. Whether for lunch or dinner. Onto a glass of milk or a beer, the alpine hut is an ideal retreat any time of day.
