About Vinoteca Baron Di Pauli
The splendid vineyards around Lake Caldaro are the backdrop to the history of Baron Di Pauli’s farm. In the 18th century, Andrea Baron Di Pauli, originally from the Val di Fiemme in Trentino, came to live in Caldaro. From then on, the Baon Di Pauli family played an important role in the life of the town. Even the famous Lake Caldaro belonged to the Di Pauli family at one point, before being given to the Comune of Caldaro in 1901.
Here is where you can find the excellent Baron di Pauli wines:
- In the Winecenter in Caldaro
- In the Winecenter’s online shop
Today, the Baron Di Pauli’s estate comprises of 15 hectares of vineyards, of which 10.5 are near to the Arzenhof mountain farm, in a spectacular location above Lake Caldaro, and 4.5 hectares make up the Höfl unterm Stein vineyard in Sella, above Termeno. Our key values are tradition and a focus on the essentials. A limited range of products, small harvests from ancient vines, a meticulous and complex winemaking process and a lot of patience are the secrets of our superlative quality. We only produce three red wines, from the Arzenhof mountain farm, and three white wines from the Höfl unterm Stein. With the Kalkofen variety, obtained from especially old wines, Baron di Pauli demonstrates what this grape is really made of and what its tru potential is. The Lagrein Carano wine, which takes its name from the place where the Di Pauli family originally lived, is the Alto Adige red wine par excellence, full-bodied and tannin-tasting, while the classic Bordolese blend Arzio fits comfortably into the panorama of international wines.
The vineyards around the Höfl am Stein are mainly dedicated to growing a specific classic wine, the Gewürztraminer (the aromatic Traminer). The Exilissi is an excellent example, very structured and full-bodied. The late-harvested Gewürztraminer Exilissi Sell is, by its very nature, only available in the best years. Our selected range is completed by the elegant mineral flavour and the freshness of the Enosi, made with Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.
