Lez "Viale dei Sogni" in Coredo - Description

A pleasant gentle trail suitable for everyone. Through a short path immersed in the woods, which travels along an ancient irrigation channel called a “lez”, we get to two enchanting lakes and a recreational area where you can eat.
The name of the trail (dream road) speaks for itself. Taking this path means savouring what only nature can offer us: silence, delicate aromas and a view which changes as the seasons evolve. With the arrival of spring some delicate flowers bloom: lady’s slippers, primroses and violets.  Immense stretches of purple capture our attention because the heather rules here and almost seems to want to invite us to lie down on its soft colourful blanket. In summer we are accompanied by the slow flow of the waters of the “lez” which has always invited children to build simple little boats made of cork or even leaves, a game passed on from generation to generation. And this leads to fun competitions with friends, to see whose reaches the end of the stream first.

Directions

  • Start

    Coredo

From the centre of the village of Coredo continue along via Venezia and straight after the Cinema Teatro Dolomiti, at Palazzo Nero, turn left following signs to Viale dei Sogni - path SAT 537. After a short climb there is a sign towards the path, opposite the old middle schools and just below the new School Centre and the picturesque Villa Giannantoni. After passing a few houses we finally get onto the actual trail, accompanied on the left by a charming stream, known as a “lez” in local dialect, whose waters flow slowly for the whole summer. It is a gentle dirt track, which you can also follow with a pushchair or by bike.
A few minutes later we are overwhelmed by the presence of some works of art created during the summer of 2019 by the “Predaia Arte e Natura” sculpture symposium. This is a real open air museum in continuous evolution; over the years it will become increasingly rich in works of art integrated into the uncontaminated woody nature. Half way along there is a charming wooden play area where little ones can have a great time climbing into the tree house or run around in the paths made for them, while adults can have a little break on a bench or, why not, concentrate on shopping at the nearby social dairy in Coredo.
Continuing along the wide route fully immersed in the wood, after 20 minutes in total we reach Due Laghi, also known as Palù. Here there is a large play area for children, a path suitable for pushchairs and mountain bikes, a beach volley court, some picnic tables and benches and lots and lots of greenery, all surrounded by impressive trees which in summer offer some much appreciated shade. Above the park there is a large car park for cars and camper vans, and straight after this is Lake Coredo with its green shores, where you can relax on a deck chair available for hire in summer at the nearby Pro Loco info point, or simply lie on a towel and read a book or sunbathe. To go back, walk around the two lakes and then head back along the same path.

Tips for the tour

Along the whole route we can admire some works of art, a true open air museum which is enriched with new sculptures every year (“Predaia Arte e Natura” sculpture symposium). About half way along the path there is a lovely place for everyone to stop with an actual tree house, an engraved bear which looks real when you first see it, a winged dragon, a balance path on trunks and a wooden xylophone. In the centre of the village of Coredo, from where we set off on our walk, stands the Hotel Ristorante Sport which offers tasty menus for all palates: dishes that range from typical to traditional, where the chef only chooses local seasonal ingredients, therefore locally grown vegetables and local game. And if we want to eat surrounded by nature, we can choose the Due Laghi restaurant and be amazed by the flavour and simplicity of the dishes, as well as the authenticity of the products and recipes. A stone’s throw away is Agritur Agostini, which serves traditional and typical dishes from Trentino and Val di Non based on simple, natural ingredients and for anyone who still has the energy why not take advantage of a nice horse ride in the family stables? With the “Osteria Tipica Trentina” and “Osteria Slow Food” brands, you will find the Ristorante alla Pineta in Tavon, which offers creative and interesting menus, connected with the seasons and the rich local culinary tradition.
