Malga Civertaghe - Rifugio Velo della Madonna - Description

A route suitable for physically fit hikers, to reach one of the most spectacular parts of the Pala group plateau.
It is the main route to get to the Rifugio Velo della Madonna. The mid-to-high section is quite panoramic and you need to take care going over the "Lasta Moia” which is a characteristic crossing on an oblique ledge with metal cables.

Directions

  • Start

    Malga Civertaghe

From the Malga Civertaghe car park, after a short unpaved section, you go immediately into the woods, taking route 713 which rises up steeply, crossing some clearings halfway up.  The route then continues opposite the steep rock faces of the Pala mountains, Cima Val di Roda, Sass Maor and Cima della Madonna.  You cross a dried-up river bed and continue uphill. Continue on a long scree until you reach the Cadinot Sora Ronz pass at about 2,050 metres. The gradient gets increasingly steep and here the path consists only of rocks, boulders and stones. You then finally get to the hardest section: the path equipped with ropes and metal ladders on the sheer lava rocks. After a final ascent (which actually involves climbing a short distance), you then arrive at the rifugio, built on a natural terrace at the feet of the Cima della Madonna peak. The way back is via the route you came up.
