Malghette lake tour - Description

The “Malghette” area, in the basin of Noce river, offers moments of intense nature with its conifer woods and a great view on the Dolomites.

Directions

  • Start

    From Madonna di Campiglio, go up to “Campo Carlo Magno” pass.

    After crossing the pass in the direction of Val di Sole, catch the first street on the left; after about 100 meters cross a bridge, go on till the end of the tar road and take the path n° 201 on the left. Walk along an uphill strech in the wood, reach the end of a flat dirt street till to the wide pasture area of “Malga Vigo”, called “Piana delle Malghette”. Crossed the ski slope, northbound, catch the path that takes to the wonderful “Malghette” lake and to the refuge.The lake is one of the biggest of the Presanella Group and can be entirely seen thanks to the path going along its banks.From the refuge, suothbound, catch the path n° 265 in the direction of “Pradalago”, go on among dwarf mountain pines and larchs arriving to wide pasture areas, where the path becomes flatter leading to the “Pradalago” small lake and “Viviani” refuge. From here go down along the dirt road till “Malga Zeledria” and then go along the tar road to Passo Campo Carlo Magno.It is also possible to make the itinerary in the opposite way starting from “Pradalago” lake, easily reachable with “Pradalago” cableway.

Tips for the tour

The Malghette refuge, on the shores of the Malghette lake, is situated in a very lovely and quite scenery. Surrounded by conifer woods and pastures, the route has a wonderful view on the Brenta mountains and it is a relaxing place, suitable for families with children. Starting from the refuge, it is possible to cover different round routes (for example, the itinerary towards the three lakes) or scenic crossing (for example, the itineary towards the Pradalago refuge).

From Madonna di Campiglio, go up to “Campo Carlo Magno” pass along the SS239. Cross the pass and, 100 mt after, take the first street on the left.
Possibility of parking in the little square in front of the main road or at the Nordic Ski Centre Malghette (on the right of the main road, going towards Dimaro).
