The route is signposted with corten steel signs.

Directions

  • Start

    S. Lorenzo in Banale

The “Ciuiga Trail” starts from the borough of Berghi in San Lorenzo in Banale following the road towards Molveno. Walking through the historic hamlets of Berghi and Pregnano, you will arrive at the last borough- Senaso, here, via a short detour, you can visit the old smokehouse where the ciuiga was stored after being smoked.  Continue towards Val d’Ambiéz and after passing a field of white radish, take a left onto a small road that leads first to the borough of Dolaso and then to Dorsino. After crossing the main road, reach the square and the historic church of San Giorgio’s. Shortly after, turn left and pass under a series of archways through the centre of town to return to San Lorenzo in Banale. Here, after reaching Promeghin Sport Centre, turn left heading for Prusa, a charming borough with its striking Casa Mazoleti featuring a characteristic rural architecture. Make your way around Casa Mazoleti and, passing under the archways, reach the borough of Prato where you can visit Casa del Parco and the ethnographic exhibition “C’era una volta” (“Once upon a time”). It’s advisable to check the opening times of the exhibition. From here, reach the local supermarket across the road, Famiglia Cooperativa Brenta Paganella, where the ciuiga is now produced. Following a cobbled lane uphill, named “Via Cavada”, return to the start in Berghi.
