Hotel Post Gries

Rural charm on the Talvera/Talfer river. Gries, the historic part of the town of Bolzano/Bozen, with roots in Roman times, was once an independent municipality and is one of the treasures of Bolzano/Bozen.
The remarkable ornamentation on the borders of buildings and the rural character of the former spa of Gries emanate a special charm. In the Middle Ages, the counts of Bolzano/Bozen settled in Gries and built their castle here. Particularly worth seeing is the Benedictine abbey of Muri-Gries, now located there, which produces renowned South Tyrolean wines, the adjacent collegiate church and the parish church of Gries with the winged altar by Michael Pacher. For years, the restaurant and café at the historic Grieser Platz in Bolzano/Bozen has been a popular meeting place. This is not least of all due to the outstanding cooking in our restaurant, which serves many kinds of home-made traditional dishes from South Tyrol and delicious international dishes. Schlutzkrapfen (Tyrolean ravioli), bacon, cheese or spinach dumplings, blood and liver sausages (according to Grandma's recipe) and of course our home-made apple strudel are on the menu. Lagrein and St. Magdalena from our own grapes in Bolzano/Bozen are a real highlight in our restaurant. The Manager of the 'Post Gries' works on the vineyard himself and ensures the best results, which will make your menu a real special treat!
