About Strekker winery
The youngest winery in the municipality of Bolzano, this establishment is located on one of the most beautiful walks in the city: the Guncina. The 2019 harvest was the first one ever as the ‘Strekker farmstead’. However, they are not new to the game: generations of winegrowers before them were members of the winery Bolzano/Bozen cooperative. They always tinkered in their small wine store, the ‘Vinzig’ (German for ‘tiny’) and those experiments pushed the young Veit family to bring their two Bolzano wines and their unmistakable style to a larger audience. All we can do now is wait with bated breath for the first bottle sporting their new label. Their wines need a teeny bit more time compared to others. The vineyards face the southwest and the terrain’s 50% incline turn viticulture here into a heroic feat. The casks are located in the cellar awaiting bottling.
The Lagrein grown in these conditions needs 12 months to age in the traditional 700 L oak casks. It stands out for its grippy and acid mouth-feel. A deep garnet with tobacco, chocolate, and berry notes.
The S. Maddalena is a breath of fresh air, a full-bodied and harmonious bold red wine. It ages in oak casks for eight months.
